Our venture-backed company includes two components, a law firm and an affiliated technology company. The law firm provides patent legal services to startup companies at fixed-fee rates. The technology company focuses on developing and implementing software and artificial intelligence tools to increase the efficiency of our attorneys and agents, letting them concentrate on the important and skilled parts of IP work.
As a startup, we are fundamentally different than the average law firm, and don’t have a traditional hierarchical partnership structure. Every one of our employees is valued for the work that they do. Description: You will have the opportunity to take on partner-level responsibilities at our fast-growing firm - from being introduced to clients and managing the client relationships to taking ownership of matters from end-to-end. Tasks will include talking to inventors and clients, drafting patent applications, performing patent searches, drafting opinions, and responding to office actions. You will perform substantive and critical work and have many learning opportunities to rapidly upskill.
We care about performing the best quality work, and you will receive training from us in the most cutting-edge legal techniques in patent law, the latest technologies (like AI and the latest developments in biotech), and business development. Our clients are primarily startups, and you will have the opportunity to work with and develop a relationship with exciting new, early-stage companies that are at the forefront of technology. There are no billable hours because we care about the quality of the work product, not how long it took to create it.
You will also work with the latest technological tools that make legal practice easier and less repetitive for lawyers, and you will have the opportunity to provide input to our development team on tools they can build to make your legal practice easier.Key Result Areas:

About the team: We are building our team from the ground up. As an early stage startup, our developers will be building everything from internal workflow tools to client facing portals to machine learning pipelines. Our developers work closely with our legal services team, listening to their requirements and architecting custom solutions that make everyone more productive.
Responsibilities: Our current needs are for an experienced full stack developer who can deliver quality code and manage all the parts of the product development cycle from specification writing to unit testing. Our developers need to be flexible and ambitious. Ideally, our developers are not afraid to take on devops roles when necessary and are comfortable with system administration tasks. Primarily, however, our developers will be writing code. Our company has a wide array of software needs built on a variety of technology stacks.
